TACO BRAID

Directions:

  1. Before you start, preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large pan over medium heat, heat olive oil.
  3. Add chopped onions and cook until tender (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in the ground meat and cook until browned.
  5. Add water and homemade taco spice, mix well, then reduce heat and simmer for 7 minutes.
  6. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet. Roll out the pizza dough on the parchment paper to measure 10.15 inches.
  7. Use a pizza cutter to make a 1.5-inch slit 3 inches from each long side of the crust.
  8. Place the cooked ground beef in the middle of the dough.
  9. Cover the meat with 3/4 cup of cheese and add tomato cubes.
  10. Starting from one end, fold the first two slices to secure the filling.
  11. Repeat for the remaining slices.
  12. Gently brush the top and sides with melted butter.
  13. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese.
  14. Transfer the parchment paper with the taco braid to the baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.
  15. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  16. Top with chopped romaine lettuce and additional tomatoes for decoration.
  17. Serve the Taco braid with sour cream and taco sauce.
