Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and then grease a large loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl and set aside
- Use an electric mixer to mix together sugar and butter in a large bowl until the mix becomes smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract to the mix and stir well, until fully combined.
- Then add flour, baking powder and milk and stir well until the entire batter is fully combined.
- Pour half of the batter into greased loaf pan.
- Cover batter with half the diced apples, and press the apples down slightly into the batter.
- Sprinkle the apples with half the cinnamon and sugar mixture
- Pour the remaining batter over the apple layer.
- Top with remaining diced apples, and push the apples gently into the batter.
- Then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Insert a toothpick into the dressed batter, then place in the preheated oven and bake for about 50-60 minutes, until the inserted toothpick comes out clean
- Take out of the oven, then allow to cool completely before removing from baking pan. Cut the bread into slices and serve for all to enjoy.
Recipe Tips:
- Instead of apples, you could use pears or peaches.
- This will taste just as good, maybe not as good as the apples, but it’ll still give you delicious pie bread.
- Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing.
- It cuts easier when it is cooled.
- However, if you can’t wait – then dig into it warm, it may just be a bit more crumbly
- If you want to make ahead, wrap the bread properly and store at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 4 months.
